Compare And Contrast Roman Empire And Han Dynasty

The Roman Empire in 479 C.E. and the Han Dynasty in 220 C.E. shared many similarities as well as differences in the downfall of social, political, and social aspects of each civilization. Socially, both civilizations faced a decline in morals and values while, individually, the Han had series of peasant rebellions and the Roman had a decline in nationalism and devotion to duty as well as multiple invasions. Politically, both civilizations had issues with rulers and political corruption while, individually, the Han had a fighting among ruling elites and the Roman had difficulties in administration of such a vast empire which created rivalries and divisions of authorities. Engineering accomplishments consisted of: roads, canals, and The Great Wall (Completed in 206 BC). Rome faced many challenges once they started to divide because of wealth which would leave many hardworking and patriotic people into social and urban decay. Engaging in simply serving their government was not even good enough for them to serve in which left many hopeless for a social uproar. The oppressive government lost support and increased it's corruption. Around this time invasions begin and throughout the empire's time it faces two major invasions from German societies as well as nomadic peoples labeled as "The White Huns", creating a population decline from war and disease from the foreign invaders.
Politically, the Han dynasty had an emphasis on family ancestors and ran a patriarchal society. Generals would gain and abuse political power and become warlords,which lead to an even more complex political institution. Generals divided the empire into three kingdoms (The Wei, Shu and Wu ) in 220 CE known as the "Three Kingdoms Period" in China, thus stirring up the previously mentioned fighting among ruling elites. Each of the three kingdoms ended in 280 CE after the Wu was defeated by the court of Jin, ending this dynasty and its kingdom
