In the six-hour sermon “Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God” by Jonathan Edwards and “The Minister Black Veil” by Nathaniel Hawthorne the Puritan lifestyle is shown. Both works used similar views and aspects, but some did differ. But even though they had similarities and differences, Edwards’ work stood out more due to his tone and choice of words. The two had many things in common. One thing is the fact that both of the main characters were ministers. Puritans lived a very religious lifestyle and the church was highly admired. Both ministers were looked upon as sinners. But this brought up another similarity between the two.
