American football versus soccer has been a raging feud for many year. This feud is now a highly controversial topic of discussion. To definitively argue which is better, one must know what each sport is. Soccer, as it is known around the world, is a game that two teams play without the use of their hands and arms. The purpose of the game is to score as many goals as possible by heading or kicking the ball in the opposing team’s goal. In contrast, American football is a game played by two teams with eleven players on the field in which players throw, kick, or carry a ball to try and get the ball over the opposite team’s line to score a touchdown. Berating an official in soccer is extremely common. However, the sight of a group of players, or even a single player berating an official is rare. If it is observed, in American football, the team will be penalized. Normally, this involves a loss of fifteen yards and could possibly result in a player or player’s ejection from the football game. So, it can be concluded that blatant disrespect toward an official is not tolerated in American football; however¸ these norms cannot be observed in the game of soccer.
The most obvious reason that supports the claim that American football is better than soccer is the fact that all scores must be earned, not given. In soccer, if a player on the opposing team tugs the shirt of another player, this could determine the end result of the game. A score could be given for something as simple as that. There are no kicks given for penalties in American football. If a player wants a score, he must earn it by getting the ball into the end zone one way or another. In American football games are earned and not given.
There are several reasons why American football is better than soccer. American football is simply awesome. It is filled with excitement, drama, and anticipation. In addition, it is fun and the idea that it is based on is quite brilliant. The game of football has a strategic edge that the game of soccer can never compete
