Social: As People became more wealthy and agriculturally productive, Tang and Song China became a very wealthy patriarchal society. The remembrance of a family became something that was taken rather seriously. For example, families and extended families would travel great distances to attend rituals respecting their ancestors instead of just remembering them and asking for their aid at a home ritual.
Political: Much of the Tang dynasty's success was due to their second emperor, Tang Taizong, who was both ambitious and ruthless(killed two of his brothers and pushed his father aside) but also displayed a high sense of duty and strived to provide an effective, stable government.
