In 1777, the Continental Congress introduced the Articles of Confederation. The Articles of Confederation were an easy ‘fix’ to the weak union that had just won its independence. At first, this change was thought of as a quickly made government for the states, but was soon revealed to have many deficiencies. Was this simple resolution to the union’s problems efficient? The answer to this question is no.
