After the Han Dynasty there were many dynasties and division. When the Han Dynasty first separated there were many civil wars and division between people and what little government there was. The biggest sign of division is when the great wall of China was built so that northern China was separated from the rest of China. The most constant civil war recorded was in the Yangzi Valley and further south. This time was called "Era of the six dynasties."
