The Epic of Gilgamesh is an epic poem from ancient Mesopotamia dating to the Third Dynasty of Ur (about 2100 BC) and is regard as the earliest works of literature from Mesopotamia. The main character of the epic is Gilgamesh. Gilgamesh who is two-thirds god and one third man is the ruler of the city-state of Uruk. Gilgamesh begins to abuse his kingship in numerous ways, including raping his female subjects. Gilgamesh’s subjects appeal to the gods for help.
