What comes to your mind when hearing the word Holocaust or 9-11? Internally, many thoughts can come to mind. For example, when or where did the event occur? Also, how did the event occur? The Holocaust and 9-11 were horrible events in our history. There are many similarities and differences between the two events. The Holocaust was an event that occurred on January 30, 1933 – May 8, 1945, which was a longer time period than 9-11. This event began slowly, with strict restrictions of the life of Jews. The Holocaust event took place in Germany and in Eastern Europe. The event took place because individuals, groups, and nations made choices to act, or not to act, on the restrictions that were placed on the life of the Jews. It occurred over the course of one day still had a big impact on us people the citizens of the United States. “19 militants associated with the Islamic extremist group al-Qaeda hijacked four airliners and carried out suicide attacks against targets in the United States”(Television, Networks A&E). These two places that Al- Qaeda attacked were the World Trade Center in New York and the Pentagon Building in Washington DC. Many reasons were devolved of why the attacks happened “Al-Qaeda hoped that by attacking these symbols of American power, they would promote widespread fear throughout the country and severely weaken the United States standing in the world community, ultimately supporting their political and religious goals in the Middle East and Muslim World”(Office, Administrative N/a). This is why al-Qaeda attacked the two places [when al-Qaeda says, ‘symbols of American power,’ he means the World Trade Center and the Pentagon Building]. This historical event had/has an impact on us because it killed a lot of
