Aligning Taoism with Pooh makes the Taoist ideas more unified because Benjamin Hoff uses the characters of the show Winnie the Pooh to represent Taoism ideas. The characters Hoff uses in From the Tao of Pooh is Pooh, Eyeore, Rabbit and Owl. Hoff states that Eyeore is the know it all, Rabbit is described as clever, and the owl represent knowledge.
In the illustrations from the writings of Chuang-tse it says that knowledge, distant vision, or eloquence couldn’t find the dark pearl. This is a parallel to the story of Winnie the Pooh. In Chuang-tse only the empty mind could find the pearl and in Winnie the Pooh story only Pooh could find the tail, this represent that pooh is the empty mind in the story.
