During the 1800’s centuries, women have been forced to live life under male domination. Women were described as passive and as stereotypical during that time.Mary Shelley portrays her gothic novel, Frankenstein, to show how women's that period were extremely limited to opportunities. In the novel, Shelley illustrates how society considers women to be weak and inferior to men. In addition, Mary Shelley shows how women lack power and the male domination in society. Shelly’s novel Frankenstein, presents how women are victimized by the male characters. Also, women's depends heavily on men support and survival, thus providing that women are weak and unable to live life on their own. Society View women's lack of power as weakness showing that they can not survive by themselves they need men in their life. Therefore they need a man to ‘’protect, cherish and provide’’( Shelley,26). In the novel, Coraline is incapable of surviving after her father’s death, therefore she married Alphonse. Alphonse ‘’came like a protecting spirit to the poor girl’’(Shelley,20). This explains how caroline was considered be as a passive female with no power, and Alphonse the dominated with all the power to protect Caroline. Shelley used the word ‘’poor girl’’ to emphasizes how Alphonse described Caroline as weak and desperate women that she is portrayed as. Furthermore, Alphonse describes Caroline to be ‘’ as exotic fair is sheltered by her gardener, from every rougher wind’’(Shelley, 20). This shows how caroline was treated as weak women, unable to survive by herself she needs an Alphonse to protect. As result, Alphonse protecting her shows how men are considered to dominate in society because the have the power to protect and provide care. Mary Shelley's compares women to be as delicate as flowers that can't live without men. As result men get to protect women and have all the power. Lastly, would also argue how women were described as they have no character. Moreover, Shelley proves that women's depends on men for support and help. As result men overuse them or sees them as a gift and get control. The role of women is very important in society. Every woman has her own responsibilities in this society in which men are still considered the strongest. Although women’s lives are more difficult than men’s life. A woman has to take care of her work, her personal life, her kids, and her husband. On the other side, men have to work and pay bills. In addition, men don't have to cook, clean and be responsible for kids. This illustrates how men don't have much responsibility but are still considered the strongest in
