Can we believe everything we read and watch? Well, we should not always trust what we read or watch and the reason for this is because it might not always be true or just. In reference to the book “The Rabbits” by John Marsden and Shaun Tan. In this narrative, it provides a view on how colonization has an impact on the native animals. “The Rabbits” portrays the native animals as weak victims and the rabbits as strong, violent colonists.
Authors John Marsden and Shaun Tan express the issue of colonization, displacement and cultural imperialism through the use of contrasting and visual imagery. For example, during the arrival of the rabbits that came by ships, this affected the environment, harming the natural ecosystem and the indigenous land.
