In the novella, Anthem by Ayn Rand and “Invictus” by William Henley these pieces of literature contain an unconquered main character, that has not conform to society to become recognized as an individual, and also have strong refusal to give up, making them brave.
In Anthem, the novella, and “Invictus” both Equality and the other main character have an unconquerable soul. Equality was given the name “Unconquerable’ by the Golden One. Due to these actions, “But we jerked our head away, hid our face upon our tied hands, and bit our lips” (Rand, 65). We can see Equality has not been conquered by the collective society. He has not let the whipping make him spill his secrets, he still keeps them to himself. The character in Invictus states ,”for
