Between the World and Me by Ta-Nehisi Coates’s adopts the structure of Baldwin's The Fire Next Time. The latter is directed, towards Baldwin's nephew, while the former addresses Coates's teenage son, Samori. This letter contemplates the feelings, symbolism, and realities associated with being black in the United States. He incorporates his personal, intellectual, and historical development into his letter. Coates uses the black body to describe the racial divide in America, and how the Dream suppress the humanity of black people. Coates’s effectively use the black body to describe the constant threat and scrutiny that black people are under on a day to day bases. Throughout American history African Americans were tortured, shackled, lynched,
