The heroic traits between the poem of Beowulf and the speech by Winston Churchill during WW2, are different in ways and yet still value the same. Some of the same heroic traits the two share are: Persistence, Loyalty, and Courage/Bravery. They both show these traits throughout the poem and speech but have many more different traits throughout them. Now Beowulf was time set between 700A.D-1000A.D, while Churchill speech was in 1940. This essay will state what humans from the 5th-6th century valued to what we value now. The poem Beowulf is about how a monster known as Grendel is terrorizing a empire and the king Hrothgar wants it taken care of. A hero of the Geats, Beowulf, comes to the aid of Hrothgar claiming he can take care of the monster.
