Nowadays many people try to educate children to have perception on another point of view, and not choosing to only know about themselves. In the essay and speech “ Educating Sons,” by Chief Canasatego and “ The First Americans” by The Grand Council Fire of American Indians this theme is represented many times throughout each text. The essay “ Educating Sons,” by Chief Canasatego shows this theme more effectively by the ending statement and the pace of the writing. While both two pieces of literature are very convincing in their points “ Educating Sons,” by Chief Canasatego shows it more effectively because of the ending statement. The ending statement is what you want the readers to be left with, or what you want the readers to be left thinking. But you who are wise must know that different nations have different conceptions of things.” Although the point of the story is stated very abruptly, it gets to the across clearly. The short story “ The First Americans” tries to do the same but isn’t as successful by “ We do not know if school historians are pro-British, but we do know that they are unjust to the life of our people- the American Indian.” This shows that the lingering throughout the letter might lose the reader's interest.
