Coates makes his community proud by how he stands alone and how he uses his voice in the world which is populated by media and social networks to convey the message to the African American in this country. The message of how to survive with a black body. Coates writes this book for his son which is shaped in a form of a letter. I think that the generation we are currently living in and how media and social networking is taking over this world the artifact like Between the World and me is much needed to show how black lives matter to us not to mention that United States has the first black president. After reading this memoir Coates made me feel like the violence against black people was never gone away and it is what America was founded on.
