There are a bevy of similarities between countries’ cultures that both speak the same language. A language is a pivotal part of a countries culture. It determines how its citizens interact and communicate with each other. However, just because certain countries speak the same language does not mean that their cultures are completely identical. It would be ignorant of one to group together countries and say that their cultures are the same just because of a mutual language. In my paper, I will analyze and discuss the similarities and differences between El Norte, Stand and Deliver and the three families in the novel Five Families. El Norte is a moving film that focuses on a young man and his sister who leaves their home and sneak across the United States border. The man’s name is Enrique and his sister’s name is Rosa. Enrique and Rosita are from Guatemala and wish to escape the harsh conditions in their country. There is a civil war brewing in Guatemala and no citizen is safe. The film is split into three parts. Eventually, both Agustin and Enrique were able to find better work. Agustin was able to find work as a bus driver in the city and Enrique found work as a waiter.
