Kouzes’ and Posner’s eighth truth of leadership stresses on leading by example. This can only be achieved by practicing what you say. People look up to you as a leader for inspiration. As a leader, it is obligatory for you to be credible and consistent with your promises. Your peers are always watching you for what you do, as opposed to what you promised to do. Not living up to your words and promises would negate the trust you have earned. A leader is always ready to live out the standards they set for others and the values they profess. This is an excellent way of setting an example for others.

A good leader works on being a better leader than they are today, through the incessant learning and deliberate practice.

A successful leader is the one who learns from their everyday experiences, reflects upon these learnings and mold their behavior around these reflections.
