People’s morals and ambitions define their characteristics and what they prioritize in their lives. Individuals are usually driven by their own desires and ambitions, and will do whatever it takes to achieve them. When an individual tries to pursue their own desires but only prioritizes themselves, it can destroy one’s relationships and also harm their morals. The play, Macbeth that is written by William Shakespeare, shows Macbeth who finds out that he is going to be king and does what he can to make sure it proceeds. It also shows how Macbeth’s actions affected the people around him. The screenplay, The Karate Kid(2010) written by Christopher Murphy, presents a young boy named Dre trying to pursue his desires with the help of Mr. Han, who …show more content…
In Karate Kid (2010), Dre was tackling moving to a new country and also struggling with bullies. When Mr. Han saw Dre struggling, Mr. Han stepped in and defended Dre with Kung Fu. After witnessing this, Dre wanted Mr. Han to teach him Kung Fu so he could defend himself from his enemies. Mr. Han was reluctant and did not want any part of it. With a lot of contemplation, Mr. Han sets aside his desires and thought of how it could be beneficial for Dre. He guides Dre and teaches him Kung Fu, resulting in a relationship to occur. A relationship was formed by how much time Mr. Han sacrificed for him and the constant training they had together. When Mr. Han taught Dre how to defend himself, a healthy relationship was slowly growing. Mr. Han was able to share his story of how his son and wife died in a terrible car accident to Dre and gradually got closer to him. This was the result of Mr. Han setting aside his desires and sacrificing his time for this boy. When he thought of the person that he could help, he benefitted as well, because he felt like he had a son in the end. After all the struggles Mr. Han went through, when he decided to think about Dre, he truly felt happiness with the new relationship he had with him. Likewise, leaving personal desires and prioritising others can be valuable in a relationship and create a sense of trust. Thinking of others before themselves shows a healthy relationship and favourable morals. Being able to sacrifice time for an individual's own desires shows what that they value the friendship they have with someone. For a relationship to grow and gain loyalty, individuals must be capable to prioritize others over themselves and put aside their own greedy
