During the course of one week I had the opportunity to watch Miss Representation and Waiting for Superman. Of course there were many that I have looked through but I hoped that this two would make the most sense when it comes to comparison. Both movies address very serious topics on challenges in society that will greatly affect the future of America. While Miss Representation talks about the struggle of body image and social expectations as well the portrayal of the media; Waiting for Superman touched on the corrupted American public education system. In my opinion, the first movie addresses the problems while the other can potentially be the solution to everything. To my dismay, Waiting for Superman did not propose any resolution and the whole documentary was a dark lottery that every household had gone through because they could not afford private schools for their children. The movie touched, one by one, on each aspect of the main problems with society and women prejudice: body image, politics, sexual appeal, stereotypes, Hollywood and the media, women objectification and sexism. Each point was discussed very thoroughly and many examples have been used. This is not a matter that is hard to grasp, everyone knows about women objectification and body image.
