A poem by Langston Hughes “Mother to Son” can be related to WAK’s “If This World Was Mine” in several different ways. One Way I can compare “Mother to Son” and WAK’s “If This World Was Mine” because first of all, when you hear the Title “Mother to Son” you think of a mother passing something on to a son. And in WAK’s “If This World Was Mine” you obviously notice that a lady who could be the mom give a big piece of yarn shaped like a sphere (which could be planet earth). Secondly, in a part of the lyrics of “Mother to Son” describes something that is filled with splinters, cracks, shacks, and that there is no carpet.
