The next recurring theme between nature and man in the novel Frankenstein is that Nature is perfect but man is not. Human beings, weighted down by petty concerns and countless flaws such as vanity and prejudice, pale in comparison to the perfection that is nature. Humans are far from perfect and so tainted that nature has built “fortifications and impediments . . . to keep human beings from entering the citadel of nature” (pg 21) though this did little in the way of keeping people from seeking the perfection that is nature. But it is the imperfections of man that disturbs nature’s balance. Even Victor in his pride attempts to prod deeper and discover “the deepest mysteries of nature” (pg 28). People in general want to “pioneer a new way” (pg
