You may not think that a book written in ancient Greece and a movie set in the 1930’s would have a lot in common, but there were a surprising amount of similarities between the book the Odyssey, and the movie O Brother Where Art Thou. One major similarity between O Brother Where Art Thou and the Odyssey is that the purpose of the main character is to get home in order to make sure his wife does not marry. In the Odyssey Odysseus goes on a ten year journey to get home to stop the suitors from marrying Penelope. In O Brother Where Art Thou Ulysses Everett McGill (who acts as Odysseus) is trying to get in order to prevent his wife from marrying.
