Waiting for someone can be the most exhausting thing you’ll ever do, especially when you have all of your faith in them. Penelope, Odysseus’ wife, waited twenty years for her husband to return from his journey. Penelope's faithfulness to Odysseus was remarkable, because the journey was only to take a week or so. Many have waited and sacrificed for someone they love, and at my young age of fifteen, I have too. It seems that when a girl gets into her first serious relationship, they imagine themselves being with their loved one for a long time. I was no exception, because I displayed the same loyalty and sacrifice that Penelope did for Odysseus. When you love someone with your whole heart, a sudden change of behavior can stop your world, especially when their behavior they show towards you has changed. Waiting for that person to change back into who they were feels like waiting for rain in a drought. Penelope experienced a similar wait. When 7 days turned into a year, then two years, then five years, then ten, and eventually twenty; Penelope must have felt the need to give up. Contrary to those beliefs, waiting for someone that is worth it to you is something you don't need to think twice on. Penelope waited because she made vows to stay faithful to her husband. As for me, I waited for someone that seemed to transform into the worst version of himself in a matter of days. At the time if it meant keeping him for a little longer, I would've waited for a lifetime. But sometimes people can change, leaving the ones they loved behind. Sacrifice is easy if you love someone with everything you have, but it may come to a point where it doesn't feel like its worth it.
