Schindler’s List is a story about a man who saved over 1,000 Jews during the Holocaust during WWII. The historical factors of the novel focus on Hitler, the Jewish Holocaust, and how one man defeated the system and saved 1,200 Jews. During the 1920s a man named Adolf Hitler rose to power in the German government, his main message was to have white superiority and for all the other races to be lesser than that of the “Aryan” group. Hitler targeted the Jewish community specifically because for one when he was in Venice for a while, and they were anti-Jew. Furthermore the fact that while he was in the army and the German Empire was defeated, him and other soldiers blamed the Jews for the defeat. All the sorrow helped all the nations come together and help each other after the war. Sorrow basically helped the world unify after so much loss. It helped America become a strong, united military force. A nation that in 1938 was making almost no weapons was, by 1943, making more than twice as many as of all its enemies combined. The holocaust is relevant to today because there are still situations that occur around the world, and especially in the U.S., that are similar to the Holocaust. One main event that is similar to the holocaust is the “Muslim Ban” made active by President Trump in 2017. The Muslim Ban is separating people based on religion, similar to the Jewish communities being singled out by Hitler during WWII. Events like the Holocaust and WWII shaped the world and still influence the world today. People like Hitler and Schindler still have influence today as well, where Hitler is seen as a bad person, Schindler is seen as a saint who helped Jews. All of these topics combined help humans not repeat history, these topics show us that discrimination is awful and can divide nations. All together we are all one race, we are all
