Scientology is defined as “a body of religious beliefs and practices developed in 1954 by
American author L. Ron Hubbard.” The members of the Church of Scientology believe that they are called to “achieve a good brotherhood with the universe through auditing and training.” (Lewis 5). This is achieved through multiple exercises and tedious training within different “levels” of the church. A cult is defined as “a system of religious veneration and devotion directed toward a particular figure or object.” On the other hand, a religion is defined as “the belief in and worship of a superhuman controlling power, especially a personal God or gods.” Seeing these two definitions, there is a very fine line between the two, and Scientology better fits
