In the two stories A Single Shard and ORPHANS' LONELY BEGINNINGS, there are a lot of things that are similar and some differences. By comparing and contrasting, I am going to show the similarities and differences in these two chosen books.
The similarities in A single shard and Orphans' Lonely Beginnings, one is they are both orphans. Ruckel got polio at the age of 6 months and his parents left him at the hospital to live at a orphanage. He also lost most of his feeling in his leg is gone. Tree-ear was homeless almost his whole life. Another is that they both decide to help someone or people in the story. Ruckel was homeless before he was 10 months old and lived in the orphanage. Tree-ear was homeless all his life and lives under the old bridge.
