If you would ask one of the past contestants of the reality tv show, The Bachelor or The Bachelorette, They would say the show is their journey to find love because if they do not and they were getting interviewed, the producers would stop them and make them reshoot the whole thing. Their first step though is a little different than what the typical person would take. Their first step is out of the limo and into the mansion with 24 other women or men. The Bachelor and The Bachelorette compare to nothing on tv, they dominate the drama/entertainment genre of the TV spectrum and it is all done by the people who want to fall in love. The first season featured Trista Rehn, the runner-up from the first season of The Bachelor. After last airing on February 28, 2005, the series returned to ABC during the spring of 2008, following an absence of three years. After the three years of not airing, the show has came back and has met the expectations of the critics that compare them to their brother show, The Bachelor. According to People Magazine, This upcoming season that airs May 22, 2017, will be making history by having the first African American bachelorette. This is a first for both shows. For example, Ali Fedotowsky told The Week that during filming, they were not allowed to have cell phones, computers, magazines, music, or even books. However they are strongly encouraged to have plenty of alcohol. When producers were asked they would say it helps make the connection faster and let the women or men think about their relationship. Others believe it helps them make more drama. They even control the how the entire first night plays out.The limo exit gimmicks on the first night and the order of which people arrive are planned by the producers and since the name game is hard to do. During the rose ceremonies the bachelor or bachelorette will say five names and then go off as the producers reset lighting and then they edit everything together. One bachelorette said, “ For the first group date I had 12 guys, I didn’t remember half of their names. If I had to, I’d pull the producer over, Cassie, and ask when it wasn’t obvious.” Ali Fedotowsky. The producers do not even let them eat during the dates because they want them talking about their relationship and to get closer with each other. Throughout the journey the producers do not pay the contestants. The only payment they get are the endorsements some get after the show but, the bachelor and bachelorette do walk away with a pretty decent check. Emily
