Readers today most likely did not live in the 1930’s. Of Mice and Men shows what life was like and how hard times were during the 1930’s. It is very difficult and takes a great amount of skill to write a novel showing the difficulties of the time era and Steinbeck did just that. With the help of Steinbeck’s writing, one can decipher the way the men talked in the 1930’s. It is also shown how difficult it was to get a well-paying job as George and Lennie display. Steinbeck's novella gives a point of view of the Great Depression which is perfect for schools. Banning an informational novella like Of Mice and Men is just horrible.
