There are instances of supernatural powers acting on people or supernatural powers to believed be acting on people. In The Crucible is where a sense of magic is most. Witchcraft is everywhere in the book. The use of magic all starts when Abigail Williams, Ruth, Tituba, and others entered the somewhat forbidden woods to speak with the devil. The group of girls were discovered naked and dancing in the forest. This lead to a huge uproar in the community which made people question if these girls were evil or not. When using the word “magic” in The Crucible, it is not really magic. The Scarlet Letter’s natural world is about Roger Chillingworth and his plan on how to deal with Reverend Dimmesdale. When Roger Chillingworth had returned from his long absence and found out that his wife had a kid that was not his, Roger’s only thought was to get revenge on the man who had an affair with his wife. Roger had figured out that Reverend Dimmesdale was the man who had done this. To his luck, Dimmesdale was sick and the only physician in the town was none other than Roger Chillingworth. Roger wanted to torture Dimmesdale by continuing to make him sick. The only thing Chillingworth did not want to happen was to have Dimmesdale die. When Dimmesdale had died after his sermon, Roger was very upset. “Thou hast escaped me!” After the death of the Reverend, Chillingworth had no idea
