The Jungle, by Upton Sinclair and, Fast Food Nation, by Eric Schlosser, are two very relevant and important writings in addressing the sanitary and safety conditions of slaughter houses. It is incredible how two literary texts written in such different time periods can be so similar in overall message. That being said, both texts strongly differ from each other. In, The Jungle, the main focus is on how the animals are treated and the overall sanitary conditions of how the meat is processed and transported. As appose to, Fast Food Nation, whereas the main point is on the workers and how poorly they are treated. Both are very similar in that they bring up the horrors of slaughter houses and shed light on that they must be changed.
