Henry Allen said “One’s destination is never a place but rather a new way of looking at things”. Destinations across the United States from all different time periods can be looked at in many different and new ways. Each man-made or naturally made location has a unique story about the formation and construction of it that should be experienced and heard. Historical events have created constructional feats that are spread throughout the United States from the east coast to the west coast. Destinations from the Statue of Liberty and the National monument which symbolize the freedom and government of the United States, and the Golden Gate Bridge which symbolizes a constructional feat on the other side of the country can be explored with rich history and stories that are completely unique.
The Statue of Liberty is one of the most well-known historical monuments in the world. It’s located in New York Harbor and symbols freedom of the nation. The monument was constructed by Federic-Auguste Bartholdi who based the design on the Roman goddess Libertas (Law). After the monument was created it was moved to Bedloe’s Island in the New York Harbor where is still is today. The monument was the tallest building in the world upon its completion in 1884 (National Park Service). The monument was constructed to be a reminder of George Washington and what he did in starting the foundation to this great nation. The surrounding area of the monument also includes the White House and other historical buildings that remind citizens of the foundation to the American Government. The Washington Monument is an iconic construction that symbolizes what George Washington fought for and is a nice farewell to the first President of the United
