Comparing The Story 'The Lady And The Tiger'

I believe that in the story "The Lady and The Tiger" the lady is the one who came out of the door. The story opens up with a little history of what happens in an amphitheater filled with the king, a lady, a tiger, a man convicted of a crime, and a hand full of citizens. In the story the princesses lover is the one convicted. He can pick one door. Behind one there is a women which he immediately marries. Behind the other door is a hungry tiger that will rip him to shreds. The princess however knows behind which door is the lady, and which is the tiger. He asks her which he should choose. She motions towards the right so he chooses the door on the right, and this is where the story ends. Leaving us with the question "Who came out of the door …show more content…
In the story it states "How often, in her waking dreams, had she started in awful horror, and covered her face with her hands as she thought of her lover opening the door on the other side of which awaited the cruel fangs of a tiger"(713). She can't bear to see him get ripped apart. We also see this same thing when it says "And yet, that awful tiger, those shrieks, that blood"(713). She tells us twice that she can't bear to see him get ripped apart. Not to forget that he was her lover. it says "No wonder the princess loved him"(711).
