Comparing Themes In 'To Kill A Mockingbird And Night'

There are many themes in many novels that are inspiring. In this paper I’m going to be comparing and contrasting the themes of two novels which are “To kill a Mockingbird” and “Night”. In these two great novels the themes are very much alike and different in so many ways. There are three significant themes being compared and contrasted which are race, morality, and family. In the two novels the themes are very easy to spot because all three themes played a major role in each story. These are two amazing novels with very much alike and different inspiring themes.

One out of three significant themes that both novels have in common is race. In the novel “Night” the Jews are the primary Nazi target of hate crimes simply because of their race. In the novel “To kill a Mockingbird” if you’re a certain race and you don’t have a certain thing or possession they don’t have the same treatment as anyone else of a different race. These themes relate because in both novels a certain race was targeted and treated unfairly. In the beginning of the novel “Night” the prisoners of the concentration camp felt it was important to hold on to their family members. In the novel “To kill a Mockingbird” parents raised their children to grow up just like them. In both situations they relate because in order for children to grow up like their parents, they have to stay close to them. Later, on in the novel “Night” the parents of the children started to become unloyal, which caused children to kill the parents because of scraps of food and other unlawful acts. In this situation the themes differ because the novel “To kill a Mockingbird” the children, nor parents ever turned on each other or became unloyal. This themes taught me even family will turn on you once you have something they
