In the history of the United States, the culture of Native America consists of a lot of different tribes that lived throughout America. Despite the fact that each of them has their own special characteristics, the Passamaquoddy and the Wampanoag, which come from the North of America, are the distinctively unique tribes of the Native American.
The Passamaquoddy are the American Indian people from northeastern North America. They live mainly in Maine, United States, New Brunswick, and Canada. The tribe's name comes from its native name which is Peskotomuhkati. It refers to the traditional ways of fishing from which their main cultural lifestyle derives. Also, fishing today still plays a critical role in Passamaquody culture. In the past, the Passamaquoddy spoke Maliseet-Passamaquoddy language whose name comes from the name of two tribes which are Maliseet and Passamaquoddy because of using the same language, even though with different accents. Firstly, they both lived in small round buildings which are called wigwams. Today, the wigwams are no longer built for shelter, but for fun or for connecting with the heritage. Another same feature is storytelling which is critical to the cultures of both Passamaquoddy and Wampanoag. As a result, each of them has a lot of traditional legends and fairy tales about their own tribe. Concerning the weapons, there are similarity and difference between the two tribes. The hunters and warriors of both tribes used spears, bows, arrows and wooden clubs. However, the fishermen used different tools.
