Turning Points

In life there are some challenging experiences you can face. These experiences are all explored in the following stories, Hatchet by Gary Paulsen, Dragonwings by Lawrence Yep, and Eleven by Sandra Cisneros. Brian, Moon Shadow, and Rachel all faced life challenging experiences. Brian from Hatchet had to use his resources to survive , Moon Shadow from from Dragonwings feared his father moving away to a new country, and Rachel faced growing up. Brian faced loneliness and hunger when he was stranded on a deserted. He kept on saying to himself every day that they would come rescue him, instead he started doubting himself. On paragraph two, the text states “They might come today”. This shows that Brian was lonely on a deserted island. Brian began to feel hunger. On paragraph five and six, the text shows Brian thinking about food. “And there came hunger”. As a result, Brian is facing hunger which he probably doesn’t face that often. Brian faced loneliness on a deserted island.

On paragraph one, the text defines that Moon Shadow’s father left China and moved to America. However, Moon Shadow would try to learn about the land of the golden moutain, America. Also, on paragraph two, Moon Shadow would always try to learn about America, instead Moon Shadow’s mother would always say she was too busy to answer his question. “Mother usually said she was too busy to answer my questions”.
