For the Virtual Art Museum I chose to use a piece of art from the DeYoung Museum which. The piece of art that I decided to look at was Stanley Mouse’s “Skeleton and Roses”. Stanley Mouse was a famous artist who most notably emerged in the 1960’s onto the hippie scene in San Francisco. In the 60’s he was known for the band posters that he would produce for some of the most famous musicians at the time. This poster “ was created in the year 1966 using a Color Offset Lithograph Poster that is 507 x 356 mm. The poster “Skeleton and Roses” is a poster that was created for the San Francisco band The Grateful Dead. Depicted in the poster is the photo of a skeleton in front of a light sky blue background. The skeleton is the center of the image, and it is the first thing your eyes are drawn to in this poster. …show more content…
While in its right hand it is holding up three roses two which are red and one which is white, and the roses appear to have falling rose petals that are lightly scattered in front of the skeletons body making them fall in the center of the poster. In front of the skeleton on its right side there is a bush of red roses that also has some white roses and some dark faded red colored roses as well. On the very top of the image you can see the name of the band written into a red banner thats edges twirl down the sides of the poster wrapping around what seem to be two white poles. The band’s name is written in a black ink that is thinly outlined by a white edge. The font that Mouse decided to use on his posters is one that looks wavy, the font reminds me of the bubbles inside of a lava lamp as well but also having slight sharp outlines. At the end of the white poles that are on the edge of the posters left and right side the “Family Dog” logo can be
