He ruled from 268 B.C. until his death in 232 B.C. He took over the Kalinga Empire to “complete the Mauryan Empire,” and drove them out of their country/killed about 350,000 people. Another example of many is that on one of his rock edicts, he says that he is “Beloved of the Gods,” and will kill his friends/allies if he has to.
