After reading both of these stories both of them show ways that the main character over comes obstacles to achieve there greatness. I believe that Betty Marie Tallchief had to overcome more than Rosa Bonheur.
Much that Betty new was from her grandmother and it was Osage heritage. She never forgot the tales or the pride she learned at her grandmother feet. She was born 1925, Betty spent most of her childhood on a Osage reservation in Oklahoma. Betty thought she was a typical Indian girl. Ballet brought her out of her shyness. Betty’s first lesson of Ballet was at four years old. After that all she wanted to do was be a ballerina. Betty Marie Tallchief soon became a local star at rodeos and country fairs. Betty had natural Talent which made it easy do her to do ballerina. This is when she learned talent isn’t enough if she wanted to be an success. One instructor told her that despite her talent she had not properly learned the basics. The instructor insisted that Betty should start over and learn the basics. Then she realized that no matter how well she would dance she could do better.

Most people in the word of dancing thought that Betty was special. When she was young people made fun of her name. Betty did change her name to Maris instead of Betty Marie. Betty Marie thought it was more sophisticated. The year she got “Woman of the year”. Betty got a special name by the Osage Tribe. Woman of two words. As you can see trough out the essay all the obstacles that Betty Marie Tallchief went through. When she had to start all over and learn the basics.
