Dante’s Inferno, The Divine Comedy, compares very closely to the hit tv show Prison Break on Netflix. In The Divine Comedy, a man by the name Virgil acts as a mentor for Dante, leading him through the circles of hell and showing him the cruel punishments the sinners are put through by the devils. In Prison break, Michael is the younger brother that becomes a leader and takes initiative in breaking his older brother out and showing him the path. Every circle in hell is known for a different type of crime and the further you go into hell the worse the punishments get. Hell can be described as a black hole, where it’s easy to fall into and get trapped in, but impossible to get out of. Prison and Hell are both a place of punishment and justice for the wrong doings of a sinner. Once an indvidual reaches Hell or Prison, it is too late to turn around since the sin has already been committed. The individual is placed in these locations because they are a source of a problem. In Prison Break, the more severe a convict’s crime was, the less privilege they received during their sentencing. Additionally, the convict would be placed in the maximum secuirty prison. In Hell, the awful crimes such as murder, rape, and adultery fall into the narrower parts of Hell, where it becomes impossible to get out of. In prison, the severity of a crime determines the length of the sentence the indvidual will face. As a result, that indvidual may experience poor treatment, such as bullying and tazing, from other convicts and or correction
