Taoism I known for the yin and the yang, it’s a way of life and is believed to still be followed by many. Epictetus is a stoic philosopher known for his teachings of wisdom and the pursuit of happiness. Both these ways of thinking, believing and living can be useful even in your own everyday life. They are relevant even to my life and I learned something from both of Taoism and Epictetus.

First, Taoism is known to base its teachings from the Tao Te Ching. Tao simply means way or path. It is known to be the way of life. Taoists believe that if things get bad, they will get better. It’s also not good to get too comfortable when things are going well because you never know if they are going to last long. One moment I can be excited that I’m having a good time in life when suddenly something happens that just ruins my attitude. Taoism believes that we should be one with nature and if this can be achieved then ones who life is eternally preserved from any bad.
Next, The Tao Te Ching states, “They succeed but do not dwell on success. It is because they do not dwell on success. That it never goes away” I think this is a very powerful quote because it says that those who do not dwell on success will always continue to have success in their lives.
