Maya Angelou and Cady Stanton Throughout history, authors and speakers have tried to inspire the American people, whether it is a presidential candidate trying to convince the people to vote, or a coach trying to hype up his players, leaders have tried to inspire their people. No one does this better than two of the most influential women in history, Cady Stanton and Maya Angelou. Cady Stanton and Maya Angelou moved their audiences by showing their sense of freedom, nationalism, and equality. Cady Stanton and Maya Angelou both show that they care about the advancement of the American people. The others showed that they cared about the way people are treated, and they way that they should be treated. Angelou showed this many times throughout her speech, “ Our ancestors have payed the price so we don't have to…( ). This shows that Angelou believes that ancestors put their lives on the line in order to make a better life for the generations in front of them.Cady Stanton and Angelou were very much on the same page about this topic. Angelou is very proud of where the country is right now and is trying to influence the people to keep moving in the right direction. “ Here root yourself beside me”(66). By this Angelou is telling the people to all come together and move forward, and not to separate. Cady Stanton on the other hand is not happy at all with the direction the country is moving. She believes that women are not treated as people rather as property. “He has taken her right in property, even the wages she earns”(113). Stanton is very upset with the way her country is moving because men are treated much much better than the women. Although Stanton is not happy with the way things are right now, both others share the same goal of everyone coming
