No man on Earth has gone his whole life without committing a single sin, so the Egyptians created Pyramid Texts and The Book of the Dead to prepare for this common occurrence. Pyramid Texts were spells, hymns of praise, and lists of offerings that were believed to “guarantee the individuals transcendence of physical morality” by allowing them to “escape from the clutches of bodily death,” (Roberson).
