The biggest thing that stands out to me in Sherman Alexie’s narrative “Superman and Me” is his desperate love of books. The way he describes how he would read everything he could get his hands on—comics, cereal boxes, portions of books in stores—reminds me so much of my younger self.
I was always designated an “advanced reader” by my teachers. I had my nose in a book constantly, reading books for my age and some on a much higher level than what others my age read.
