How can a girl from Ghana, Africa, and a boy from the south in the 1910's be similar? The Scarlet Ibis and The Girl Who Can are similar stories, due to their points of view, characters, and their plot structures.
In both The Scarlet Ibis, and the Girl Who Can, the point of view is from a character in the story, making it first person. In The Scarlet Ibis the narrator is unnamed, but he is Doodles older brother. The narrator is talking from a first-person point of view looking back on his life. On page 129, the narrator says, "I thought myself pretty smart at many things, like holding my breath, running, jumping, or climbing the vines in Old Woman
