It was estimated by CDC that youth ages 15-24 make up about 25% of the population who are sexually active, but account for 50% of the 20 million sexually transmitted infections in the United States each year. Although STDs can affect any individual, the impact of not having a comprehensive sex education is particularly heavy for the younger people (CDC, 2017).
Access to high quality, integrated youth-friendly services developed by healthcare workers who specialize on taking care of adolescents should be magnified. These programs should influence healthcare workers to be prepared in offering comprehensive, balanced and accurate sex education in order for the younger people to have decent amount of knowledge on how they can protect themselves
