As I was reading Cones The Cross and The Lynching Tree I encountered a variety of powerful passages. Nonetheless the most powerful passage in my eyes came at the end. The passage read “what god joined together, no one can tear apart”. Theologically speaking I believe Cone is saying no matter what whites did to innocent blacks God put them on this planet to live and understand one another. Sure they will be difficult times and times where seeing the light is very challenging however never give up the faith one puts in God.
