On 2015 in Charleston, South Carolina Dylann Roof killed nine African-American. Eight died at the scene while the other one was rushed to the hospital, but eventually died. Dylann Roof stated that he wanted to “start a race war” again like in the past. Although it did not happen at that time the problem aroused again two years later. When white nationalists marched in Charlottesville, Virginia in order to remove confederate statue from Monument Avenue and sadly one person died violently as well during the procedure. Even though I am still young and still have a lot to learn about life, my opinion is that the Confederate statues should be removed from Monument Avenue because it has brought a lot of conflict between races and people within their own race. As soon as the majority of the Confederate Statues were built between 1890’s and 1950’s which was the Jim Crow era. In the contrast the earlier monuments were built was for the soldiers who had perished away in battle. Also, there was even an organization that a woman made so she can raise enough money to build a ginormous monument which is Mount Rushmore. Her purpose of the monument was, so it would glorify the leader that was carved in it. Multiple reasons, had demonstrated that it should be removed from it’s place. First, there was been a great deal of controversy when the elections were occurring. The elections made people get offended because of their race and the monuments reflected that as well. Then, in my perspective the statues symbolize dark times in the United States, mostly because at the time there was racism and slavery. Also public safety is an issue mostly because of the different perspective that people have with each
