Act I: In the beginning of the scene, 3 witches appear to be discussing when they should “meet up” again to continue their conversation later on. Duncan, the king of Scotland, is informed about Macbeth and Banquo’s bravery and leadership in the battle of Norwegian vs Scotland. The Thane of Cawdor claims that he has parted sides with Norway and has betrayed Duncan. In response the king orders for the Thane of Cawdor to be executed and decided to give the title of Cawdor to Macbeth. In scene 3, Macbeth and Banquo are in the presence of the witches who then greet Macbeth as Thane of Cawdor and soon to become king.
