Panama is a country located in the Central America region and the country borders both the North Pacific Ocean and the Caribbean Sea. Due to this, many traditions were diffused to Panama from Puerto Rico, such as language. Panama is located between Columbia and Costa Rica. Panama's landform consists of a line of mountains that forms the continental divide. The country has a mixture of forests, mountains, beaches, wetlands, plains and pastures. The site of Panama took advantage of the natural waterway linking two oceans, which improved the development of the country.
In 2018, the population of Panama increased by 1.56% and reached 4,162,618. The country has a crude birth rate of 19.53 in 2016, according to the World Bank collection of development

They have three branches of government, the executive and legislative branches are elected by secret votes for five year terms. Panama has a long and narrow shape, which makes it elongated. Panama has alliances with the United States, The European Union, and Taiwan, due to historical, political, and economical reasons. Most importantly, the United States supplies them with most of their needs. Children are raised by their extended family and have much respect for their elders. Most times, multiple generations will live under the same roof, with the younger ones taking care of their grandparents. Because of this, there are very few retirement homes in Panama. Personal appearance and hygiene is important. Panamanians try to maintain a neat, conservative appearance when in public. Panamanians greet each other with a handshake or hug because they value personal space. Maintaining eye contact is also important and is seen as a sign of integrity and respect. The traditional music is called tipico, which is very similar to and influenced by classic country music in the United States. Other types of latin music such as salsa are also popular. The local folk culture can be enjoyed through many traditions that have been passed down from generation to generation. The pollera is the common dress for Panamanian women. The dress is embroidered with detailed and bright designs. The men’s clothing consists of embroidered long sleeved shirts, short length pants and the common straw hat. The different festivals are due to the influence and traditions of the different ethnic groups that make up the population. There is no restrictions on culture
